Product Description
SunButter® is a great tasting alternative to peanut butter made from specially roasted sunflower seeds. All of our products are completely peanut-free;tree-nut free;and gluten free. Our sunflower seed spreads are all processed in a peanut & tree-nut free facility. SunButter® is packed with nutrition and an excellent healthy alternative to other nut butters. It is nutritionally superior to peanut butter with 1/3 the saturated fat;27% of your vitamin E in one serving;and has a much higher iron & fiber content. All of this extra nutrition is derived from the sunflower seeds which are also a great source of protein. SunButter® is an American product of Sungold Foods;Inc. The sunflower seeds used are sourced from local farmers and SunButter® is manufactured in Fargo;North Dakota. 5 out of 5 stars Really good   February 27, 2010

Sunflower seed butter is really delicious. I prefer the flavor of sunbutter to peanut butter, but it is different, not necessarily a full replacement. I love peanut butter as well. It isn't so much a dessert butter like macadamia and cashew butters (I'll eat those straight for dessert, sometimes on ice cream, but I wouldn't dream of a macadamia nut butter and jelly sandwich). It fills a somewhat similar niche to peanut butter (hearty, filling, a bit savory) but it has a unique flavor and is a bit more delicate than PB. If you or someone in your family has peanut allergies, this is a no brainer. If not I think it is still worth trying (perhaps find a place where you can find a single jar before committing to six?) It is a bit pricey compared to peanut butter, but has a great flavor and is very versatile (good on sandwiches, ice cream, veggies, or a finger dipped into the jar).

5 out of 5 stars Delicious!   February 4, 2010

This is a step above peanut butter, imo. I'm not even a huge sunflower seed fan, but this is just yummy! Slightly sweet taste, and has a smooth spread like peanut butter. The only thing that keeps me from buying this vs. peanut butter is the steep price of the Sunbutter :( Wish there were some better deals on it or it was a part of subscribe and save.

5 out of 5 stars Sunbutter Natural   June 5, 2010

I have tried various nut/seed spreads from different makers of such products. This is my personal favorite. It's very smooth in texture, and I really like the flavor as well. If you like peanut butter, and also like sunflower seeds, give it a try!

5 out of 5 stars delicious and cheaper than purchasing at WhFds   June 20, 2010

Sunbutter is a staple in our family due to allergies. It is a delicious replacement for peanut and other nut butters, and purchasing it online saves us about $1.50/jar over the regular price at our local health food store.

3 out of 5 stars Awesome, but look out for soy!   August 17, 2010

I have a ridiculous number of severe food allergies. Sunbutter was one of three major sources of protein for me. Yes, it is delicious. Yes, I would eat it religiously if all other things were equal.

...but they are not. Sunbutter recently began processing this product on equipment that processes soy and, while properly labeled, I got so used to the product that I didn't bother checking the nutrition label.

I am allergic to soy and can no longer have this product. I rated a three because it is still a wonderful product - but changing equipment has cut out a good-sized portion of their key consumer pool.
